Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma with 12–18 years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree with 8–12 years of experience
  • Master’s degree with 6–10 years of experience

Position Summary:

The ITP Data Scientist supports the DHS Insider Threat Program by turning large and complex data into actionable insights. This role focuses on behavioral analytics, threat detection, and system integration to help identify and mitigate insider threats across DHS networks.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Behavioral Analytics

  • Support a government behavioral analytics platform.
  • Design advanced analytics across large datasets to uncover insider threat indicators.

2. Data Analysis & Research

  • Perform exploratory data analysis using math, statistics, and scientific methods.
  • Use tools like Python to clean, normalize, and structure data.
  • Experiment with data to uncover patterns and develop innovative solutions.

3. Data Architecture & Collaboration

  • Work with engineering teams to create a secure and scalable data environment.
  • Help prioritize data projects and resolve data quality or integration issues.
  • Define key data assets and support long-term enterprise data strategies.

4. Threat Intelligence Integration

  • Connect threat intelligence feeds to the DHS data platform and dashboard within 10 business days of availability.

5. Engineering & API Support

  • Support engineers with data integration across various security tools and systems.
  • Use Python to access APIs (SOAP/REST) for smooth data ingestion.
  • Ensure strong API connections to unify threat data into a centralized system.

6. Log Analysis & Threat Detection

  • Analyze large volumes of system logs to detect insider threats and cyber intrusions.
  • Apply custom techniques to legacy and modern IT systems to find suspicious activity.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $185,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year

Security clearance:

  • Top Secret (Preferred)
