Compensation: $80,000–$110,000
About the Position
We’re seeking a motivated Embedded Firmware Engineer to design and implement embedded systems for Class II medical devices in a regulated environment. You’ll work cross-functionally to support the development of safe, reliable therapeutic technologies. This role is ideal for candidates with 2–4 years of embedded systems experience who are ready to take ownership of meaningful projects while continuing to grow their expertise.
What You'll Do
Develop and test embedded firmware and internal tooling to support hardware, software, and QA teams
Contribute to ensuring compliance with IEC 62304, FDA QSR, and ISO 13485 across development phases
Support V&V, risk assessments, cybersecurity reviews, and hardware-in-the-loop testing
Write and maintain clear technical documentation and regulatory submission artifacts
Participate in cross-functional design reviews and share input on firmware design decisions
Contribute to test fixture development and assist in hardware test setups
Collaborate with hardware engineers during integration, bring-up, and troubleshooting
What We’re Looking For
2–4 years of hands-on embedded firmware development experience; exposure to regulated industries (medical device experience preferred)
Solid skills in C/C++; familiarity with Python for scripting, tooling, or test automation
Experience with RTOS environments and comfort working with secure data exchange protocols
Working knowledge of Linux development tools, cross-compilers, and debugging instruments (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG, etc.)
Ability to support and contribute to regulatory compliance efforts (IEC 62304, FDA QSR, ISO 13485) while growing into broader lifecycle ownership
Experience collaborating with hardware teams on integration, bring-up, and troubleshooting
Proficiency with Git or similar SCM tools; capable of producing clear test protocols and engineering reports
Detail-oriented, proactive, and motivated to grow into greater ownership in a fast-paced R&D environment
