UNIVERSAL Technologies is seeking an experienced DB2 Database Administrator with deep expertise supporting DB2 v10 or higher on IBM z/OS platforms. This hybrid role supports enterprise-scale financial and payroll applications, including PMS and PPMS—the City’s payroll and pension payroll systems. The ideal candidate will bring extensive database administration experience, system integration skills, and a strong understanding of IBM InfoSphere, CICS, and related technologies.

MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical/business discipline is required.
• Hands-on experience supporting DB2 v10 or higher on IBM z/OS platforms
• Experience with IBM IMS V12 database management or higher
• Ability to perform core DBA duties: backup/recovery, reorgs, and DB troubleshooting
• Experience with CICS Transaction Server
• Ability to author REXX scripts
• Proficiency in troubleshooting assembler code
• Expertise in resolving issues with DB2 embedded within COBOL programs
• Ability to design solutions using Oracle Transparent Gateway
• Experience designing and implementing BMC BPPM Monitoring software
• Skilled in installing and troubleshooting IBM Tivoli LDAP Server on AIX
• Demonstrated experience building and maintaining data propagation solutions using IBM InfoSphere Replication Server
• Experience installing and managing DB2 on AIX platforms
• Deep experience supporting large-scale, enterprise-wide financial and payroll applications built on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions

SCOPE OF SERVICES

• Support City payroll and pension payroll applications (PMS and PPMS)
• Install, configure, and tune DB2 databases on IBM z/OS platform
• Author and validate procedures for all database processes
• Identify and implement modifications/updates for DB2 programs
• Collaborate with Technical Support to deliver migration components and instructions
• Execute data fixes and recovery functions
• Perform standard database tuning procedures (e.g., runstats, reorgs)
• Assist in tool upgrades and participate in Disaster Recovery drills
