Job description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

The primary responsibilities of this on-site position involve managing and supporting the County's financial systems to ensure optimal performance and alignment with business needs. Core duties include troubleshooting technical issues, conducting system maintenance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance and integrate these systems. The role also includes key functions such as documentation, user support, and providing expert guidance on system capabilities.

1. System Management & Support:

  • Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution: Diagnose and resolve complex problems within financial applications, often requiring in-depth analysis of system data and processes.
  • System Maintenance: Apply updates, patches, and hotfixes to maintain system stability and security.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor system performance and identify opportunities for optimization and improvement.

2. Collaboration & Communication:

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with IT teams, finance staff, and other departments to ensure smooth integration and support of county systems
  • User Support: Deliver training and ongoing guidance to staff regarding systems usage and best practices.
  • Communication with Stakeholders: Communicate system status, issues, and recommended solutions to relevant stakeholders.

3. System Enhancements & Development:

  • Requirement Gathering: Analyze business needs and convert them into technical specifications for system enhancements and new development.
  • System Design & Development: Support the design and implementation of new features, reports, and workflows within county applications.
  • Testing & Implementation: Conduct rigorous testing of new applications and features prior to deployment; manage the implementation process.

4. Documentation & Reporting:

  • System Documentation: Develop and maintain detailed documentation for county systems, including user guides, technical specs, and troubleshooting protocols.
  • Report Development: Create and update reports to monitor system performance, financial metrics, and operational data.

QUALIFICATIONS: A strong understanding of database administration and maintenance, as well as financial principles, accounting practices, and financial reporting, is essential.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Database Management: Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server 2016+) is required.
  • Financial Systems: Experience with financial software and platforms like Finance Enterprise, SAP, Oracle E-Business Suite, or other relevant applications is crucial.
  • Data Analysis Tools: Expertise in Excel (including advanced functions and macros) and other data analysis tools are necessary.
  • Programming: Knowledge of programming or scripting languages such as JavaScript, Powershell, Angular or Python.

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:

The ability to analyze complex financial data, identify issues, and propose effective solutions is a core requirement.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are needed to effectively interact with users, stakeholders, and technical teams.

Project Management:

Experience with project planning, requirements gathering, and translating technical requirements into actionable plans is often expected.

Experience & Education:

A bachelor's degree in computer science, finance, accounting or a related with 3+ years of progressive experience in database administration and maintenance is preferred; or any satisfactory equivalent combination of experience, education and training which demonstrates the ability to perform the work described.

SALARY RANGE: $6,803-$8,589/Monthly
