NOC MANAGER

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Network Operations Center (NOC) Engineer to spearhead the design, build-out, and tooling of our NOC. This is a unique greenfield opportunity for a hands-on leader who is passionate about leveraging Linux and open-source technologies to create a highly automated, scalable, and efficient monitoring and response environment. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of implementing services and infrastructure from the ground up, with a strong emphasis on open-source tooling and automation.

Key Responsibilities:

NOC Design and Implementation:

  • Lead the strategic planning, design, and implementation of all NOC infrastructure, services, and processes from inception.
  • Architect and deploy a comprehensive monitoring solution utilizing primarily Linux-based and open-source tools (e.g., Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana, SmokePing, RRD based tooling, etc.).
  • Develop and implement automation strategies (e.g., Ansible, Python, Bash) to streamline NOC operations, incident response, and reporting.
  • Define and document standard operating procedures (SOPs), and escalation workflows for the usage of the services that are deployed.
  • Integrate NOC tools with other IT infrastructure and systems to ensure seamless data flow and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for deployed services.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the NOC, focusing on automation, efficiency, and proactive monitoring.

Required Technical Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience as a senior engineer with significant leadership and architectural responsibilities.
  • Demonstrable experience in designing, building, and implementing services based on Linux platofrms.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Linux environments (e.g., CentOS, Ubuntu, RHEL) and system administration.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with a variety of open-source monitoring and logging tools such as Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios, Icinga, ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana), Graylog, etc.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using languages such as Python, Bash, Perl, or similar
  • Solid understanding of networking principles, protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, BGP, OSPF), and network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls).
  • Experience with network diagnostic and troubleshooting tools (e.g., tcpdump, Wireshark, mtr).
  • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef) is a plus.

Education:

  • Bachelor's (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Linux environment: 10 years (Required)
