UI/UX Designer - Soccer Performance Technology

Role Overview: We're seeking a UI/UX Designer with deep soccer knowledge and experience to join our team. You'll be responsible for creating intuitive, performance-driven interfaces that serve soccer players, coaches, technical staff, parents, and club organizations. Your understanding of soccer culture, tactics, and the unique demands of the sport will be crucial in designing solutions that seamlessly integrate into training sessions, match situations, and long-term player development programs.

Key Responsibilities:Soccer-Specific Interface Design

• Design real-time interfaces for our wearable GPS system that display critical soccer metrics during live matches and training:
• Sprint speeds, acceleration zones, and deceleration patterns
• Heat maps showing positional play and tactical movement
• Distance covered in different intensity zones
• Technical actions per minute (touches, passes, tackles, etc.)
• Player load and fatigue indicators for substitution decisions

Comprehensive Soccer Management System

• Create intuitive dashboards for different soccer stakeholders:
• Coaches: Tactical analysis tools, formation tracking, player comparison metrics, training load management
• Players: Personal performance progression, position-specific KPIs, recovery tracking, skill development goals
• Parents: Age-appropriate performance summaries, development milestones, playing time analysis
• Technical Directors: Squad-wide analytics, talent identification tools, long-term player development tracking
• Sports Scientists: Injury prevention data, fitness benchmarks, periodization insights

Soccer-Centric User Experience

• Develop user flows that understand soccer's unique ecosystem:
• Pre-match tactical briefings with data integration
• Half-time quick analysis tools for immediate tactical adjustments
• Post-match comprehensive review systems
• Season-long player development tracking across different competitions
• Youth player progression pathways aligned with soccer development models

Stakeholder Research & Testing

• Conduct user research with soccer-specific organizations:
• Professional clubs (MLS, USL, international leagues)
• Youth soccer academies and development programs
• High school and collegiate soccer programs
• Recreational and amateur soccer leagues
• Soccer coaching education organizations (USSF, NSCAA)

Soccer Data Visualization

• Create meaningful visual representations of soccer-specific metrics:
• Passing networks and ball progression analysis
• Defensive pressure maps and pressing triggers
• Set-piece effectiveness tracking
• Player positioning relative to tactical systems (4-3-3, 3-5-2, etc.)
• Opposition analysis and scouting report interfaces

Required Qualifications:Soccer Background & Knowledge

• Collegiate soccer experience or equivalent high-level competitive soccer background (club, semi-professional, or professional)
• Deep understanding of soccer tactics, formations, and positional play
• Familiarity with soccer culture across different levels (youth, amateur, professional)
• Knowledge of soccer-specific terminology in multiple languages (Spanish, Portuguese) preferred
• Understanding of different soccer development pathways (academy systems, college soccer, professional routes)

Technical & Design Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field, or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of UI/UX design experience, preferably in sports technology, wearables, or data-heavy applications
• Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe Creative Suite
• Experience designing for both mobile and desktop platforms, with understanding of wearable device constraints
• Strong portfolio demonstrating user-centered design processes and complex data visualization solutions

Sports Technology Understanding

• Experience with soccer analytics platforms (StatsBomb, Opta, InStat, Hudl, etc.)
• Understanding of GPS tracking technology and its applications in soccer
• Knowledge of soccer performance metrics and their practical applications
• Familiarity with video analysis workflows used in soccer

Preferred Qualifications:Advanced Soccer Knowledge

• Coaching certifications (USSF, UEFA, or equivalent national federation licenses)
• Experience working with soccer organizations at various levels
• Understanding of soccer sports science principles (periodization, load management, injury prevention)

Compensation Package:

• Base Salary: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
