Position Summary

The Temple Daily Telegram is seeking a creative and technically proficient Graphic Designer to help create strong visuals for both our print and digital platforms. This isn't just a layout role; we are looking for a designer with Adobe Creative Suite proficiency creating high-impact creative and page designs. You will help create modern design aesthetics ensuring the Telegram and TDTNews.com remain the premier sources of information and visuals in Central Texas.

Key ResponsibilitiesVisual Design & Editorial Layout

• Creative Ad Design: Design daily ads and page designs using the Adobe Suite.
• Photo Manipulation: Use Adobe Suite to color-correct, crop, and enhance local photography for maximum print and web quality.
• Graphics: Create custom ads graphics, and marketing materials with Adobe Suite
• Brand Consistency: Maintain visual identity of the Telegram and TDTNews.com, ensuring all special sections and daily pages adhere to modern brand standards.
• Collaboration: Work alongside departments and staff to create designs and advertising layouts.

Digital & Multimedia Production

• Web Assets: Design digital banners, social media tiles, and interactive elements for TDTNews.com.
• CMS Management: Post breaking news and multimedia galleries to our digital platform with an eye for UI/UX best practices.
• Social Engagement: Curate and design content for Facebook, X/Twitter, and Instagram to drive traffic and community engagement.

Qualifications

• Adobe Experience: Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator is required.
• Design Portfolio: A strong portfolio demonstrating a mastery of layout, typography, and design.
• Education/Experience: 3 years Graphic Design experience in Adobe, Visual Communications proficiency, a plus or equivalent professional experience.
• Social Media Skills: An understanding of digital SEO/social media trends and posting in the voice of the channel.
• Deadlines: Ability to produce high-quality creative work under the pressure of a daily "press-stop" deadline.
• Flexibility: Willingness to work with occasionally changing production cycles. Deadlines for production sometimes require flexibility to accommodate deadline changes.

Preferred Attributes

• A "Swiss Army Knife" designer who can pivot from a minimalist news layout to a vibrant, artistic feature spread.
• Self-starter attitude with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
