Job Summary
The position of Systems Administrator is a highly responsible position primarily involving maintenance of all internal networks and connections, ensuring high levels of availability and security of supported business applications. The Systems Administrator shall provide staff and users with assistance to resolve computer related problems such as malfunctions and program problems. This individual also participates in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenance that is consistent with town goals, industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

Duties
Main duties and responsibilities of the Systems Administrator include but are not limited to:

· Manage the day-to-day operations of town host computers by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance, and repair.

· Administer and manage a network server environment comprised of Microsoft and Linux architecture including email and backup systems.

· Administer and manage a network infrastructure environment comprised of hubs, switches routers, intrusion protection systems, internet security systems and end point virus protection systems.

· Consults with management and users to discuss system capacity, equipment acquisitions and security requirements.

· Works with users, managers, and directors to identify and document system, application, or functional requirements.

· Develops new system and application implementation plans, custom scripts, and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability.

· Troubleshoot systems when experiencing issues by identifying what the problem is and finding a resolution.

· Maintain current knowledge of latest product upgrades to ensure that all systems software is up to date.

· Log all changes made to the network and infrastructure utilizing existing tracking systems.

· Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical host computer resources.

· Develops procedures to maintain security and protect systems from unauthorized use, acts of nature and user abuse.

· Develops procedures, programs and documentation for backup and restoration of host operating systems and host-based applications.

· Maintains current knowledge of technological developments in systems administration technology and recommends feasible means to acquire new technology.

· Maintenance of the Town’s communication systems including phones and cell phones.

· Installs and maintains various Web servers and services.

· Provides networking assistance to users, including help with network connections and passwords.

· Manages all upgrades and backups.

· Researches and implements security and firewall strategies.

· Assists in the development of network and host security policies.

· Manages remote client access via SSL VPN.

· Monitors network traffic and makes necessary recommendations for additional resources or hardware.

· Maintains the town’s Security Cameras, ALPR systems, and infrastructure.

· Provides Help Desk support.

· Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS

· Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work information technology or related field

· Industry certification(s) with directly related experience may be substituted for degree requirements on a year-for-year basis.

EXPERIENCE

· Minimum of four years’ experience in Information Technology. Three years’ experience accepted when Systems’ Administrator has a master’s degree.

· Two or more years of increasingly complex and progressive experience in Windows Server System Administration.

· Minimum of 2 years of experience in Windows Operating Systems in both a client and server environment.

· Minimum of 2 years of experience in administering Active Directory, file shares and security.

· Experience in implementing and maintaining cybersecurity measures, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR).

· Hands-on experience with implementing and managing multi-factor authentication (MFA) methods to enhance security and protect sensitive information.

· Knowledge of Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy, Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) standards, and associated law enforcement technologies.

· Knowledge of Industry backup methods.

· Experience with installation, maintenance, and systems administration of VMware and other virtualization products.

· Strong knowledge of Exchange Server, O365, MS SQL Server, Active Directory design, SharePoint, and PowerShell.

· Experience installing, upgrading, and configuring applications within a Microsoft Server IIS environment.

Solid understanding of intermediate networking concepts, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, and network security protocols.

· Experience and advanced knowledge of security systems, Access Control systems, IP Camera Systems and protocols preferred.

· Experience and knowledge of VOIP/PBX systems preferred.

· Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, and other industrial automation technologies preferred.

· Experience with SAN and NAS storage administration in a Windows Server environment.

· Experience with mobile connectivity and VPN Solutions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $72,567.26 - $92,523.50 per year
