IT Operations Process Manager
Location: Richmond, VA (Hybrid – 3 days onsite / 2 days remote)
Duration: Contract through September 4, 2026 (strong potential for extension)
Pay Rate: $40-50/hr.
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated IT Operations Process Manager to support Cyber IAM operations. This role focuses on executing and managing established operational workflows and controls to ensure ongoing compliance, risk reduction, and process integrity.
The ideal candidate brings strong experience in process management frameworks, data analysis, IT controls, and technical aptitude. While prior IAM or cybersecurity experience is not required, a foundational understanding of access management principles and IT ecosystems is preferred.
This position requires a process-driven professional who can operate independently, manage structured workflows, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, transparency, and control outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Process & Operational Management
- Execute and manage recurring operational workflows with high accuracy and compliance
- Ensure defensible audit evidence is collected and maintained
- Maintain up-to-date job aids, procedures, and documentation
- Apply structured process methodologies (CTQs, KPIs, SIPOCs, Swimlanes, RACIs, throughput monitoring)
- Identify opportunities to improve process efficiency and control effectiveness
Data & Continuous Improvement
- Collect, analyze, and maintain process performance data
- Leverage tools such as Google Sheets and SQL to reduce manual effort and increase reliability
- Monitor process health metrics and identify control gaps
- Analyze throughput and operational performance trends to drive improvements
Risk, Governance & Audit Support
- Ensure alignment with IT risk and governance standards
- Support audit walkthroughs and evidence gathering
- Identify and remediate compliance gaps
- Maintain control integrity while enabling operational efficiency
Technical & Systems Engagement
- Understand system interactions across applications, servers, and data layers
- Interpret how APIs, file transfers, and integrations support operational controls
- Provide Level 1 support to internal stakeholders
- Escalate issues to Level 2/3 teams with clear documentation and recommendations
Cyber & Access Management (Exposure Preferred)
- Support access control processes and provisioning workflows
- Ensure access governance aligns with documented standards
- Help mitigate inappropriate access risk while enabling business operations
Required Qualifications
- Strong experience with process management frameworks (Lean, Six Sigma, Yellow/Green Belt methodologies)
- Experience with IT risk, governance, and control environments
- Technical aptitude with understanding of system interactions (APIs, file transfers, multi-layer applications)
- Strong data analysis skills including:
- Google Sheets (IF statements, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, QUERY, pivot tables, charting)
- SQL (executing, modifying, and creating queries)
- Experience documenting workflows and producing structured reporting
- Ability to operate independently in a technical, process-driven environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Yellow Belt certification or formal process improvement training
- Experience supporting internal audits, controls, or remediation initiatives
- Exposure to IAM, access management, or cybersecurity environments
- Experience with end-to-end process mapping and operational optimization
