Back-End Developer (Senior Level) – Emmacare

deliver Chronic Care Management (CCM), Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM), and

Telehealth services. Our technology helps clinicians, home health agencies, and payers

improve patient outcomes, streamline operations, and drive value-based care.

We are looking for a Senior Back-End Developer to join our team and help scale a

high-impact healthcare platform. You will work on mission-critical features, integrations,

and performance optimizations that directly support providers caring for patients across

the U.S.

What You’ll Do

 Lead ongoing development and support of back-end services, APIs, integrations,

and data workflows.

 Collaborate with product and frontend/mobile teams to deliver end-to-end

solutions.

 Manage deployments, hotfixes, migrations, and backups in production

environments.

 Design and optimize complex SQL queries, data models, and high-performance

services.

 Implement microservices and messaging systems for scalable healthcare

workflows.

 Integrate with third-party APIs and external healthcare systems.

 Provide senior-level technical support, troubleshooting, and innovative problem-

solving.

 Contribute to product brainstorming sessions and technical improvement

initiatives.

What We’re Looking For

Must-Have Skills & Experience

 7+ years of professional back-end development experience (or 5+ years with a

related Bachelor’s degree).

 Expertise in PHP 7+ and Symfony 5+.

 Strong knowledge of REST API design and development.

 Proficiency with MariaDB/MySQL/PostgreSQL, including query optimization and

database performance tuning.

 Hands-on experience with Redis.

 Experience with AMQP and microservices architecture.

 Docker/Docker Compose and orchestration tools (ECS or Kubernetes).

 Strong Linux and Bash scripting skills.

 Advanced Git (branching strategies, CI/CD workflows).

 Proven experience with third-party API integrations and import/export

systems.

Nice-to-Haves

 Experience in healthcare technology (EMR/EHR, HL7, FHIR, HIPAA-compliant

systems).

 Knowledge of cloud environments (AWS preferred).

 Familiarity with secure messaging, EDI, or other healthcare integrations.
