Job Description

Crescent Systems Inc., (CSI) – a custom hardware/software engineering company headquartered in Richardson, TX, is seeking a talented IT Network Administrator. The Network Administrator is responsible for the effective operation, management, and maintenance of an organization’s IT network infrastructure. This role involves ensuring the stability, security, and performance of all systems, networks, physical infrastructure, cloud infrastructure, and WAN tunnels. The Network Administrator collaborates with various teams to troubleshoot issues, implement solutions, and proactively manage the technology environment. Additionally, the Network Administrator acts as a point of escalation for the helpdesk.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding and experience with DoD compliance standards such as FIPS, STIG, NIST, DISA CMMC, as well as the expertise to modify, troubleshoot, and accomplish major repairs of network hardware and software components, including Cisco routers and switches, Palo Alto firewalls, Azure networks and virtual firewalls, APs, and other IT equipment. The selected candidate will be subject to government security investigations and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Essential Job Functions:

  • As a talented Network Administrator, you’ll deploy and administer Cisco switches and routers, Palo Alto firewalls, and Azure Cloud resources, and Wireless APs.
  • You’ll also create, map, and document vlans, routes, segregated networks, SSL, IPSec, and GRE tunnels, as well as WAN configurations, including SD-Wan.
  • As a security conscious professional, you’ll configure and deploy SSL decryption, PKI certificates, and best practices in packet shaping to ensure network traffic is optimized and secured.
  • As an experienced security professional in the DoD sector, you’ll implement security measures and controls to protect the network and systems against unauthorized access and cyber threats, while ensuring compliance with NIST and DISA standards for CMMC compliance certification.
  • As a team player, you’ll collaborate with Systems Administrators in order to maintain and regularly update and test backup and disaster recovery plans, ensuring data integrity and business continuity.

Other Job Functions:

  • Maintain Client VPN networks and collaborate with Systems Administrators to deploy updates and patches.
  • Monitor system logs and network activity to identify and address security vulnerabilities or incidents.
  • Install, configure, and maintain network systems hardware.
  • Monitor system performance, network traffic, and server availability to ensure optimal operation.
  • Perform routine system updates, patches, and security fixes.
  • Create and update technical documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and user guides.
  • Generate reports on system performance, security status, and incident responses.
  • Collaborate with the IT team and other departments to implement new technologies and solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related degree.
  • Relevant certifications, such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), etc., are a plus.
  • 8 years’ experience managing and administering Cisco networks.
  • 8 years’ experience managing and administering Palo Alto firewalls.
  • 5 years’ experience managing and administering Office 365 Hybrid AD environment, SharePoint 365, and Microsoft Azure Cloud.
  • Familiarity administering Windows and Linux Servers, both physical and virtual.
  • Familiarity with SIEM dashboards such as Splunk and Microsoft Sentinel.
  • Familiarity writing and creating Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Comprehend complex verbal and written instructions; communicate effectively, orally and written.
  • Display a keen interest in IT related work and the desire to learn and grow.

Ability to:

  • Multi-task, keep records, prepare reports, and follow specific instructions.
  • Train and instruct employees in proper use of computers/network system functions and resources.
  • Effectively carry out difficult and complex tasks while exercising independent judgment and initiative.
  • Performs other duties as required.
